Every article, every blog post, every letter or email you send includes an opportunity to further your personal brand and increase your customer awareness. Each needs to include your power-signature. This signature is far more than your name, it is a mini-commercial. It describes who you are and what you bring to the marketplace. Look at my signature below. Most bloggers don't even include their name after their post. Why? These posts are often emailed, printed and included in RSS feeds, some of which are combined with other material in a given industry feed and forwarded to places previously unimagined. If your name and some means of contact are not there, how will anyone know who wrote that wonderful piece, allowing you to possibly benefit commercially?
Again, look at my signature line below. You see my name, you discover that I am an author and see a link to my book's web site. You also have the opportunity to bookmark this article with virtually any bookmarking favorite like Digg, Delicious, Technorati and Stumble-Upon. You can also subscribe to my RSS feed, including this article, via a feed reader of your choice. What's more, you can also choose to listen to this article. All of this in one signature line!
My emails and letters share a similar philosophy. My signature there includes my name, company name, all phone numbers, email, web site and an image with a direct link to Amazon where my reader can find my book, Learning For Profit. Each communication is an opportunity to further my brand and sell my book!
Scott (The Name Tag Guy) Ginsberg is the person who drove this point home for me. Here's a guy who has leveraged wearing a name tag 24 hours per day into a fulfilling, successful career. After three successful books, a popular blog and countless speaking engagements, he must know what he is talking about! You may want to do likewise.
So... who are you and what do you do? Tell the world about yourself and your brand with each article and post.
