"One issue. One day. Thousands of voices."
It is an honor to be part of the Blog Action Day movement with our Environment and several charities as the focus of attention. Idea Sellers is one of approximately 15,000 blogs with an astounding readership of 12 million which will publish posts concerning our precious environment today. Wow!
More precious than gold, though resilient, our environment is not destruction-proof. It is not too late to turn it's degradation around. It will take a concerted effort by everyone to demand it's resurrection. We must hold each other accountable. We must all do our part. It literally is about the very air that we breathe, the water we drink and the soil we live upon.
Congratulations Al Gore on winning the Nobel Peace Prize for your non-stop work in this arena! Thank you for your unflappable position and efforts to promote the urgency of the situation. Thousands of people, states and organizations must now leverage your amazing progress and make things happen. A presidential election year is a great vehicle from which to broadcast this message. People everywhere will be paying attention.
We are at a point where all of humanity is being threatened, not by a neighboring country, but by a common enemy, one borne from ignorance, one that could eventually destroy us all if we permit it.

We all can participate in the turn-around. Doing your part is easy:
1. Properly dispose of batteries, caustic chemicals, cleaners, paints, gasoline oil , etc... Don't dump them down the drain or into a hole in the ground.
2. Use "Green" environmentally-safe, natural products.
3. Separate your trash. Recycle newspapers, bottles, cans, glass, plastic, etc...
4. Buy recycled goods; plastics, paper, ink cartridges, etc... Their cost will lower in time. Do it now.
5. Put pressure on companies who frequently violate environmental standards.
6. Vote. Let's position public leaders who care about this critical issue.
7. Save the rain-forests! Contribute to global efforts.
8. Get active in your local community. Be part of the solution.
9. Pick up trash when you see it. Don't wait for someone else to do it.
10. Teach others, especially our children, about the importance of saving our environment.
Stand up. Take a stance. Demand action by our leaders. Be willing to sacrifice if necessary. If we are to leave a habitable world for future generations, the decision to do so truly begins here and now. None of us can afford to ignore mother nature any longer.

Great to see your post on Blog Action Day Dan. Some great tips listed. I'm still trying to reconcile in my mind, Al Gore being awarded a Nobel Peace Prize when he charges $250,000 for an appearance to speak on the environment ... not bad work if you can get it. I do admit he has raised the awareness level on global warming a huge amount.
